Terms of service¶
Last updated: TODO-FILL: Datum
Peach Commander is a private, non-commercial open-source project. Nothing here is sold, there is no subscription, no account and no paid tier. These terms cover the use of this website and of the binaries offered on it. They are deliberately short.
1. Who offers this¶
See the legal notice for the provider and contact details.
2. The software is licensed, not sold¶
The Peach Commander source code and the compiled application are licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. The full text is in the LICENSE file of the repository and at https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0. Where these terms and the Apache License differ in respect of the software itself, the Apache License governs.
That license already contains what matters most here, in its sections 7 and 8: the software is provided "as is", without warranties or conditions of any kind, and the contributors are not liable for damages arising from its use. Nothing on this website extends that warranty or creates a service relationship.
3. Beta software, and what that means for your files¶
Peach Commander is a file manager in beta. It copies, moves, renames and deletes files, and it can execute plugins and macros that do the same. It is under active development and it can contain defects.
- Keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, and verify a destructive operation before confirming it.
- The application is currently not signed or notarized by an Apple Developer ID. macOS therefore blocks the first launch until you explicitly allow it. This is documented on the installation page; it is a consequence of the project not holding a Developer ID, not of anything the app does.
- Use at your own risk, within the limits of the Apache License.
4. Where you may get it¶
Official distribution is this website and the project's GitHub repository and releases. Builds obtained from anywhere else have not been published by me, and I can say nothing about what they contain.
5. Plugins¶
Plugins run inside the application and have the same access to your files that the application has. They are not sandboxed. The plugins bundled with the release are part of this project. A plugin you install from elsewhere is software from that third party, and installing it is your decision and your risk. The application asks for confirmation before installing one.
6. This website¶
The content of this site is provided for information. It is kept as accurate as I can manage, but I give no guarantee that it is complete, current or error-free, and the site may be changed or taken offline at any time.
Texts, screenshots and the site design are protected by copyright. You may quote and link freely with attribution. The app icon and the name Peach Commander identify this project; please do not use them for a modified build in a way that suggests it is the original. The Apache License permits forks and modifications, and its section 6 already reserves trademark use.
7. Third-party names¶
Total Commander is a product of Christian Ghisler and Ghisler Software GmbH. macOS, Finder, Apple Silicon and Apple Intelligence are trademarks of Apple Inc. Docker, Amazon S3, GitHub and other names used on this site belong to their respective owners. They are used descriptively. This project is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.
8. Links to other sites¶
This site links to external pages, in particular to GitHub. Their content is the responsibility of their operators. See the legal notice for the standard statement on this.
9. Applicable law¶
German law applies, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and without depriving a consumer of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence.
10. Changes¶
These terms may change, for example when the app leaves beta or when it is finally signed. The date at the top says when they were last touched. The version in force is the one published here when you download.
